Virginia and Louie

• CHAMOMILE tea is used as a sedative, also good hair rinse for blondes, a pillow filled with chamomile helps induce sleep.
• PEPPERMINT tea is good for relieving headaches, add to comfrey tea.
• SWEET BAY use in cooking, put in cupboard to repel bugs.
• FEVERFEW leaves are eaten to prevent migraine headaches.
• BASIL excellent companion plant in vegetable gardens near tomatoes, used as a token of love in Italy, pots of basil used in France at sidewalk cafes to repel flies.
• GARLIC CHIVES most useful plant in garden. Use leaves in salads for mild garlic taste, excellent border plant, use around roses to repel aphids, plant at base of fruit trees to prevent borers.
• WINTER SAVORY This herb is referred to as the "bean herb." Use in all bean dishes, companion plant to all bean plants, pungent taste excellent as substitute for salt.
• COMFREY the root and foliage contain allantoin, a substance which increases the speed at which wounds and broken bones heal.
